Verona Finished Basement and Curb Appeal

We designed and finished this home’s basement around a “Pittsburg toilet” so we did not have to dig up the cellar floor. We converted an awkward layout into a functional half bath, with a laundry area, an infrared sauna, and plenty of custom cabinets for storage.

The homeowner liked it so much they brought us back from a new front door and columns. These are both a natural wood, knotty alder. We custom made the column covers to match the door.

The Numbers:

Scope:‍ ‍

Design and finish basement to include an enclosed half bathroom, laundry area, mechanical room, and IR sauna. This included self leveling the concrete slab for new flooring and custom cabinets for storage.

Furnish and install a new front door and columns for the portico. The column covers were custom made on site out of knotty alder, and everything was stained and finished to match.

Budget:‍ ‍$35,000.00

There were some surprises, as there always are. In this case the heating loop of the mono-flow system ran low throughout the cellar area. We had to design the layout so the doors would open properly. The cabinet doors were designed to slide for this reason. Here is a breakdown of some of the high cost items:

  • Front Door (with labor for finishing) $3,500.00
